In Series I of Jon Kabat-Zinn's CD series, the author offers a four-part home training course that includes a complete body scan meditation, sitting meditation, and two mindful yoga sessions. 'We are not trying to actively achieve a state of deep relaxation or any other state for that matter, while practising mindfulness,' he teaches. 'But interestingly, by opening to an awareness of how things actually are in the present moment, we often taste very deep states of relaxation and well being - of both body and mind.' Patients in Jon Kabat-Zinn's Stress Reduction Clinic in the USA use these guided meditations six days per week over a period of at least eight weeks.
