A companion to Janan Cain's award-winning The Way I Feel, this book uses detailed illustrations, type faces and vivid colour to complement the simple verses that explain character traits like compassion and bravery. The verses by Steve Metzger, together with Cain's sometimes zany characters, show scenes that children can identify with, like peering at bugs with a magnifying glass, finishing a puzzle, and sweeping up a mess. Examples define words such as curious, responsible, persistent and capable. The scenarios on each two-page spread let children imagine how they might act in all these situations.
