Mindfulness - A Practical Guide to Finding Peace

Product Description

Published UK, 2011
This book and the accompanying CD offer an eight-week program of simple practices that we can incorporate into our daily life. They are based on mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT) which grew out of the work of Jon Kabat-Zinn at the University of Massachusetts Medical Centre in the USA. The MBCT technique revolves around a form of meditation that was little known in the West until recently. Mindfulness meditation is not only worthwhile in itself, but it can also prevent normal feelings of anxiety, stress and sadness from spiralling downwards into prolonged periods of unhappiness and exhaustion - or even serious clinical depression. The eight-track CD contains the meditations that relate to the program.

Prof. Mark Williams is Professor of Clinical Psychology at Oxford University.
