Treating Trauma and Traumatic Grief in Children and Adolescents

Product Description

Published USA, 2017 (2nd edition)
This text grew out of the authors` work in trauma-focused cognitive-behavioural therapy (TF-CBT), an approach recognized as an exemplary evidence-based program in the USA. The book seeks to disseminate the model to community practitioners as they are the therapists most likely to provide therapy to traumatized children. Sample scripts, case examples, handouts and troubeshooting tips are included, and particular attention is given to ways to tailor treatment to the needs of culturally diverse clients and those with challenging clinical presentations and complex family situations. Section I introduces the concept of TF-CBT. Section II introduces TF-CBT components: Psychoeducation, Parenting Skills, Relaxation, Trauma Narrative, Affect Expression and Modulation. Section III introduces grief-focused components. Information on free online training in TF-CBT is provided in the book. The new edition incorporates a decade's worth of advances in TF-CBT research and clinical practice and has been updated for DSM-5.
